Made famous by Sylvester Stallone for his performance as the “underdog” who triumphed against all odds, Rocky is not only popular in the western culture but is also deeply entrenched in the minds of the Indian viewers. His message of “The Triumph of Human Spirit” was heard beyond the boxing ring and across the world.

Almost 30 years after the launch of the first Rocky movie the superstar still boasts of over 8Mn+ active fans on Facebook. Rocky has also been inducted in the Boxing hall of fame in 2010. The state of Philadelphia in the USA has also erected a Rocky statue on the stairs of its library immortalizing the legendry fighter in stone.

Rocky, the first of the Rocky series didn‘t only see Sylvester Stallone as the star and the title character but also as the original script writer. This is a fairy-tale story about Philadelphia boxer Rocky Balboa who experiences the American dream when he gets a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship. The movie won three Academy Awards: Best Picture, Director and Film Editing; it also received seven other nominations, including Best Actor (Stallone), Actress (Talia Shire), and two for Supporting Actor (Burgess Meredith and Burt Young).

In the sequel, Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) marries Adrian (Talia Shire) after losing his match with World Heavyweight Champion Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Now, with a baby on the way, Rocky and Adrian need money, and down-and-out Rocky accepts the offer of a rematch with Apollo Creed. The fight finale is riveting. Stallone wrote and directed this sequel.

In Rocky 3Sylvester Stallone as writer, director, and star pulls off another very enjoyable film with this version of Rocky Balboa's (Stallone) ups-and-downs in the boxing world. The story begins where "Rocky II" ended with Rocky taking the championship from Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Then the story jumps three years ahead. Rocky has won many matches and is now wealthy. But, problems lie ahead when he loses his title to Clubber Lang (Mr. T).

Once again we are all rooting for Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) in Rocky 4, when he goes to Russia for the match to end all matches. This time, his opponent is a Russian fighter (Dolph Lundgren) trained through a computer. Rocky almost meets his match in this one.

Director John G. Avildsen is back at the helm for this lastRocky Balboa film. This time, Rocky Balboa is suffering brain damage caused by one of his too many fights. However, he is badly in need of funds his wife Adrian (Talia Shire) is forced to go to work. This time he has to fight his protégé Tommy in the ring to reclaim his pride.

The series not only catapulted Rocky to fame but also MOVIES NOW who broke a two decade old STAR MOVIES and HBO duopoly in India with Rocky Balboa.

Watch out for the iconic series all of September and October only on MOVIES NOW.
