Our next trip to the North Yorkshire coast will be a mountain bike expedition from Scarborough to Whitby. This visit will coincide with the second of Whitby‘s Goth Weekends. This is our second visit of the year to North Yorkshire; this trip is a romantic weekend breaks. We arrive in Scarborough by train on Friday 30th October and will travel across to Whitby over the course of the weekend by track and trail on our mountain bikes. The journey is set to take us across moorland and hills battling through the single track and over the hilltops taking in some breath taking scenery. The group consists of 12 strong riders ranging from intermediate to semi professional in skill level. The chosen route should prove to be a challenge to all participants as none of us has ridden this particular terrain before. There will certainly be a surprise or two in store for everyone, a trip in to the unknown, and an adventure. Our first port of call will be the YHA Scarborough. Having never stayed at this hostel before it will be interesting to see how it compares to the newly refurbished and restored splendour of its Whitby neighbour. In planning this trip I consulted a number of websites, some specifically related to mountain biking and maps to establish the necessary details for the two wheeled aspect of the trip. The other really useful, dare I say indispensable website was http://www.thewhitbyguide.co.uk. Type Whitby Stag into Google and there it is at the top. Offering tips, advice and comprehensive details of all of the very best Whitby has to offer. I would highly recommend the site to others planning a trip to Whitby. It was useful to read the reviews that were available on the site; it‘s always useful to have an independent opinion telling it how it is.
Having read the reviews and articles about the Goth weekend on the Whitby Guide it was decided that we would arrange our stag around it and base the theme on Goth Fancy Dress Mountain Biking. Hallo‘een has an added appeal and should draw an eclectic mix of Goths, Bram Stoker fans and tourists. Our intention for the weekend is to have a high energy, action packed Stag Party. Take in the sights, the sounds and the cycling across the moors. As for our destination we have some of the best fancy dress there is. FACT. The photographs will be online just as soon as we return from our trip. As for our second day, we will head out, after a substantial fry up, to the jumps and track section of our adventure. This should give anyone with a hangover the opportunity to rest up and recover and for those who aren‘t the chance to test their bikes to their limits. Our journey back will split the group into their respective tribes, London, Nottingham and Staffordshire. Trains chugging us home in time for last orders at the local and a bag of chips to walk home with. To the STAG
