It is just like moving back in time when you're within Disney World's Hollywood Studios. This theme park was developed as a homage to Hollywood and films, and it started out modest in Orlando, Florida.

A Modest Start

Disney's Hollywood Studios was not actually something extraordinary when it launched way back on May 1, 1989. Built with only 4 sights, Disney's Hollywood Studios used to be called "Disney MGM Studios." A year afterwards, a fireworks display, "Sorcery in the Sky," was added.

The start of Disney's Hollywood Studios was small. But by 1994 the park had started to take on its true fantasy character. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Sunset Boulevard were launched that year. After 5 years, the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster opened. The Magic of Disney Animation and the Great Movie Ride then joined the rest of the attractions, while the Monster Sound Show grew to become Sounds Dangerous and the Backstage Studio Tour was modified to the Backlot Tour. Shortly immediately after these attractions appeared, the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular was also opened.

"Beauty and the Beast" is a stage attraction which was there since the early days of the park. A theatrical production that sadly did not was the sensational "Hunchback of Notre Dame."

When the park began, its most popular icon was the Earful Tower, which was based on the genuine Hollywood backlots' water towers. But inevitably the Earful Tower was eclipsed by the Sorcerer Mickey Hat - that tremendous blue hat, greater than 120 feet tall, that everybody could see.

Parades, We've got Parades

Without the enchanting parades in Disney's Hollywood Studios, this park will just not be the same. There have been parades since the beginning. The Block Party Bash was succeeded by the Pixar Pals Countdown to Fun. Many feel that the Block Party Bash was more fun. Still, the majority can't get enough of Pixar Pals.

Excellent Restaurants Over Time

Throughout the years, Hollywood Studios continues to be viewed as an exceptionally remarkable place, particularly with the support of its fine dining establishments. There is a restaurant inside Hollywood Studios known as the Hollywood Brown Derby that is a perfect - or virtually a perfect reproduction - of the authentic one found in the real Hollywood. There are still some people around who was raised in the 50s who can tell you that the 50s Prime Time Cafe genuinely takes you back to television land during the great era of black-and-white sitcoms. Always be prepared, however. The servers of this cafe perform their characters very well. You should mind your etiquette or they are going to give you what-for.

The Sci-Fi Drive-In enables you to feel like you are having a classic date in a convertible car, while you're watching a scary movie over popcorn.

Is Disney's Hollywood Studios Today the Greatest Park for Small Kids?

Children will likely find many of the attractions within Hollywood Studios too grown-up. However, there's also a lot of characters to meet and greet, so that will certainly make them excited. There's also a playground with a Honey I Shrunk the Kids motif. The "Beauty and the Beast" stage show is additionally something they'll undoubtedly like, to name a few. But most of the programs and other sights are a little long for young kids.

Traveling to Hollywood in Central Florida

From simple origins Disney's Hollywood Studios has exploded into a theme park which takes a full day or more to experience for fans of the films, big and small.
