As Google changes it's algorithms, article marketing has become harder in some ways, but that doesn't mean you can't still profit from it. Article marketers used to have a choice when it came to how to leverage their articles. While a few were diligent about creating quality content that meant getting their articles widely distributed, most were content to write lots of lower quality articles in the hope that they'd be ranked by the search engines. Since the updates, however, the search engines are really interested in ranking only quality articles, so it's not enough to simply have them published in a directory.

Most of the articles you will find in the article directories are the same format. Writing to educate people is basically what it is all about, and that makes for a typical format. So if you want to be different and stand out, then you can write articles that offer a comparison or even a contrast. You have your niche, so then you can find something you agree or disagree with and then explain why you feel that way. Many article marketers simply publish single articles and then don't follow up in any way. Doing this only puts you at the mercy of chance -who happens to see your article at any given time. If you take more substantial and consistent action with your articles, you can achieve much better results. Find the movers and shakers in your niche; those blogs and sites that get substantial traffic. Contact the owners of those sites and inquire about becoming a regular content provider. This will work better if you have a portfolio of quality articles to show them, but most people will be open to at least considering such an offer.

Content theft is a daily problem on the internet, and something you've likely experienced before. The article directories are especially vulnerable to this practice, as people use the content and leave off the resource boxes. By taking the right approach, though, it's sometimes possible to take advantage of this practice and actually gain from it. Rather than get upset when you find that someone has swiped your content, write to them and make an offer. Let them know that you're aware of the situation, but be courteous with them. Tell them that if they're willing to include a link back to your site that not only can they keep the article they've already taken, but that you'd be glad to supply them with more. On the other hand, if they keep your article without a link, let them know that you have no other choice but to file a DMCA notice against them.

There's an endless amount of research you could do to help you understand article marketing more thoroughly. Yet it's not enough to simply accumulate a lot of information; you also have to make use of it. You have to focus on writing articles that are both optimized for the search engines and relevant and interesting to human readers. Writing consistently is actually the best way to get better as a writer. The most important rule of article marketing is to continue writing at all times.
