Darain met the love of his life, through a fateful introduction by one of his friends. Married now for six years, Darain and his wonderful wife Mia have 4 children (2 boys and 2 girls).
Darain likes to snow ski, play the guitar, and water ski, but finds himself spending most of his free time doing what he loves most…spending time with his family. The sometimes find time to get away to their favorite vacationing spot in the Cayman Islands.
Darain likes to listen to Christian music, and some of his favorite artists at Mercy Me and Jeremy Camp.
Darain is involved with a number of charitable causes and believes that giving back to people in need is a responsibility he takes seriously. One of the groups Darain actively supports is called Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks is a not-for-profit organization committed to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder.
Darain is also involved in a group called Volunteers Impact Prosperity (VIP), America‘s first nationally standardized web based system to count individual and group volunteer hours. “Volunteering is not only good for the economy; it has even more personal benefits for the volunteer.†said Darain Atkinson, VIP member and supporter. The mission of Volunteers Impact Prosperity (VIP) is to increase the quantity by improving the quality of the volunteer experience through its ´Best Volunteer Practices‘ program.
By most definitions, there is no question that Darain would be considered a success. When asked about his “key to successâ€, Darain humbly responds, “Being grounded. Seeking God first in everything I do, and putting the right people in the right places…and having faith in your team to do what is right when it counts.â€
Darain has a strong belief system. The values he tries to live his life by include Honesty, Integrity, Character, and a Servant Heart. In speaking about his fundamental beliefs Darain says, “I treat others how I want to be treated, put God first, love my family, and honor the sanctity of my marriage.
