If you're like most people, then you have tried quite a few diets, with varying degrees of success. You may have lost some fat but you generally get to a certain point and then nothing you do can help you shed more. This plateau is hit by most people and is common amongst all the various diet plans. You simply can't prevent the plateau problem if you don't figure out how to fool your metabolism.

You've probably already faced the plateau problem which will probably have caused you a lot of frustration and ended more than one weight loss plan. This is an unusual thing that transpires to even the most successful dieters sometime near the third or fourth week of the diet they have picked. Until that point the weight seems to come off with no trouble and then it just ceases and nothing really works to help the body lose more fat. This is one way your body does respond to the adjustments you have made. Your body slows down your rate of metabolism when you arrive at this point because it wants to protect you from accidental starvation. What this ultimately ends up doing is keeping your body from losing any more weight.

This is why people stop trying to shed pounds because, this plateau keeps them from thinking that doing so is achievable. At this point they go back to eating, and gaining their weight back plus even more than they shed usually. The way to stop this is to opt for a diet in which you just shift your calories. What you are trying to do is eat a different number of calories each day, which is designed to deceive your metabolism. If this works on your body it won't enter "protective" mode. This keeps your body's metabolism working, instead of slowing down, and your body continues to drop some weight. When you arrive at this point, you have passed the plateau and your diet will continue to work the way that it was meant to.

It is really simple and easy to integrate this type of plan into your everyday routine. Perhaps the most widely used method of caloric cycling is the 14 day method. This method goes for 14 days: you do regular things for the first eleven and then during the last three you eat anything you want. You can rotate your foods during the day and fool your metabolism and then for three days eat what you would like to eat and stop the plateau. This is also pretty handy in keeping you on track with the stricter dieting plans. You can keep on repeating these 14 days until you truly feel satisfied with the amount of weight you have lost.

Another popular program is the 2 day plan in which you eat as normal one day and the following day trim your calories by between twenty and thirty five percent. You could keep on doing this every couple of days for as long as necessary to get your weight off. This is a program that ought to get your attention since it could be just what you need to pass your plateau and lose all of the weight you would like to lose.
