September 21, 2009 - Echoing the World Environment Day, and in collaboration with UNESCO, Ho Chi Minh Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, the Green Vietnam Community, Sharp Ideas Ltd., is planning a Green City campaign in HCMC between Oct 7th, 2009 and Nov 24th, 2009, promoting a clean and green living environment in Vietnam‘s largest metropolis. The kick-off ceremony will be formally held at 8am Oct 7 in Youth Cultural House under the attendance of HCMC high officials.

The Campaign short-term goal is to make the public area of the city clean, green and comfortable for living. For the long-term, the campaign is aimed to arouse and imprint the consciousness of environment preservation on citizens‘ mind, especially of the young generation, in order to gradually form the common responsible living behaviors and attitude.

Miss Earth 2007, Truong Chi Truc Diem is competitively chosen to be the Green City ambassador, endorsing various programs throughout the campaign. The Green City campaign will feature a week-long educational program to raise public awareness of a Think Green Live Green lifestyle through street banners, newspaper posters and television broadcasts. Especially, the massive educating propaganda on the municipal community is supported by VTV, HTV, VOH (Voice of Hochiminh City), Tuoi Tre, Thanh Nien, Sai Gon Tiep Thi,, other outdoor communication vehicles and the enthusiastic Green City volunteers.

In addition, more than 1000 volunteers, high school students and office workers, will help clean up areas across HCMC, such as the parks, bus stations, markets, and etc. Furthermore, approximately 50 trees will also be planted at designated streets, and 500 green benches placed at various public spaces in HCMC for the campaign.


Through this Green City campaign, Sharp Ideas hopes to contribute to the growing need for a clean and green urban living experience in Vietnam, starting with Ho Chi Minh City. Together, let‘s make our home Green!
