There's now plenty of information available if you want to live a healthier lifestyle. By looking at books, weight loss programs and articles like this one, everybody can make choices to live more healthily. The real question is, how serious are you about getting fitter? If you're deadly serious about it then taking action on the information you get is very important.

One health tip that's considered to be very good and everyone can do is drink plenty of water. The nice thing regarding this bit of advice is that it's a simple and inexpensive thing to do. The only problem with it is that, for some reason, many people still don't do it. To ensure you are drinking plenty of water you should ideally carry around a supply of water as much as you can, regardless of whether you're in the gym, at work or you're driving to somewhere. Additionally you can swap an unhealthy cold drink, like soda or an energy drink, with fresh water. You should get a filter if you're not too sure about the quality of your home's water.

Some research indicates that drinking may be good for your health, and this is controversial to say but people who drink a little have fewer diseases than those who don't drink at all. Wine is especially good in this way, as its high in antioxidants such as resveratrol. Having a problem with alcohol does not mean you cant get these antioxidants as fruit and fruit juice contain them as well so you can also have them. Instead of having wine you can have a fruit juice and a resveratrol supplement. If having alcohol doesn't bother you then having a glass of wine everyday can be good for your health.

You already know that healthy foods are better than unhealthy foods but the portion size you eat is also very important in terms of your overall health. Reducing your portion size reduces your calorie count while simultaneously reducing the detrimental effects that unhealthy foods can have on your body. Obviously there's not really any such thing as too many green veggies or salads but those don't tend to be foods that we overindulge in anyway. It's carbohydrates like bread and pasta, sweets and salty foods that are the worst culprits, as it's always tempting to reach for another portion. It's important to learn how to be satisfied with moderately sized portions and just say no to second helpings. It's all up to you to make some changes in your life now that we've had a quick look over a few ways of improving your health. It's not that difficult to form new habits, it's just a matter of retraining yourself, and you can do this at your own pace. Just like how it took a bit of time to get used to doing unhealthy things, you must allow yourself some time to get used to being healthier too.
