Fossil fuels have been an energy staple for a long time, supplying us with heat and electrical energy as well as gas for our cars. The reverse is what takes place when the energy comes from a nuclear power plant or one that is coal. Carbon dioxide is released into the air from coal, which might not be that big a deal, except there are 50,000 coal plants around the world. A lot more coal plants are likely to open, which will exacerbate the situation. If the nuclear power plants don't encounter any troubles, no toxins poison the air, yet there is still the problem of doing away with nuclear waste. One main benefit of environment friendly sources of energy is that they are inexhaustible. If the sun ever ceases shining, not much else is going to matter very much. When the fossil fuels are all used up, something else will need to be used, so why not start now, rather than leaving the problem for the next generation. Continuing to speak about environmental troubles and exhausting fossil fuels really doesn't matter if we're not going to do anything to change the situation. If it is left up to each one it probably won't be done. Change will only occur when governments and big businesses take the lead.
