You will see important changes for the Medigap system taking place the first of June 2010. These modifications include the addition of two brand new policies as well as the elimination of four others. Federal government legislation from back in 2005 are the reason for these modifications.

The major changes for the Medigap packages include:

* The removal of Medigap Policies E, H, I and J.

* Prevention care and home recovery benefits will no longer be available on any kind of policy.

* A rise in the benefit for excess fee will go up to 100 % in Medigap Plan G.

* The addition of two new Medigap Plans - M and N.

* The hospice benefit will be added to Medigap Plans A through G.

Merely new insurance policies written after June 1, 2010 will be affected by these modifications. Individuals signed up in insurance plans previous to 6-1-10 won't be effected. Individual Medicare consumers will not need to make changes to their Medigap plans unless their active plans no longer meet their needs.
