Vancouver BC Skid Row University, a Coquitlam-based business education firm, today announced the release of the “Skid Row University Training Program” training course. This course is intended to train businesses and not-for-profit employers in sales, internet marketing and presentation skills in order to help businesses and employers profit from adversity.

Funding for this program is paid for by the Workplace Training for Innovation Program, as a part of the British Columbia Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development. After careful consideration, Joe Roberts and the Skid Row University were chosen to be a part of this program, and have been pre-approved to offer up to $5000 in training to businesses, which will be paid for in full by the Provincial Government.

As former CEO of the multimedia development company Mindware Design Communications, Roberts led the company through an 800% increase in business in less than four years. He also made his first million dollars before he turned 35, and was named one of Business in Vancouver‘s 40 Under 40 Outstanding Business People, and one of Maclean‘s 10 Canadians Who Make a Difference. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Ontario Premier Awards for business excellence. In addition, Joe Roberts has appeared on many TV shows, news programs, radio talk shows and has been featured in major publications such as The Toronto Star, The National Post and Canadian Business.

Both businesses and non-profit organizations may be eligible to receive funding and take part in Joe Roberts‘ “Skid Row University.” Eligible employers must be small organizations with less than 50 employees; they must be in good standing with the BC Corporate Registry and in existence for a minimum of one year. In addition, the business or organization interested in obtaining funding for the Skid Row University course must be deemed suitable for public funding and not engaged in any illegal, discriminatory or offensive business activities or practices. All organizations must also certify that they would not undertake the training without financial assistance from the Province.
