Consequently, this Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5540 is reasonably priced, however powerful, at the least for what I have it to do. I am pretty much like all the others and also to browse the web and check email with this thing and it does the job all right for that. It truly is quick and clippy and I absolutely love using a number key pad. My only criticism with this is that it does not have an USB port on the right hand side of the laptop. Why is this important you ask? Mouse. I have a small travel mouse that I usually use with my laptops and with this one, it should be plugged all the way on the other side of the laptop. It's kind of bothersome, but not a deal breaker with me.

This could be a great laptop for a kid going off to college or any type of casual user to just have around the house.

BE WARNED: as with most new laptops currently, this one does not come with installation DVD's. That means that if you get a virus or something, you can't have a way to reinstall Windows. It will however have a method for MAKING a backup. I suggest that you do this IMMEDIATELY before while using laptop. While i did it, it required 5 (yes five) blank DVD's, so make sure that you have some on hand. When you skip this step, you will rue the day in the future. The fun part is that the printed instructions are pretty stupid and look to be generic for all Toshiba laptops. To make the backup do the following:

Click Start -> All Programs -> TOSHIBA -> Support & Recovery -> Recovery Media Creator

and follow the instructions from there. The printed instructions tell you to check the help guide on the laptop, does not give directions for finding the help guide, but when you do it does not give the correct location for the program that makes the recovery DVD's
